Job Description
The Systems Engineer will support a government program by applying advanced systems analysis and design techniques to complex systems across domains such as logistics, financial management, and IT operations. This role involves guiding stakeholders in defining system requirements, conducting feasibility studies, and recommending optimal design approaches. The analyst will lead technical reviews of contractor deliverables, participate in engineering milestone meetings, and maintain architecture artifacts in DODAF or approved formats. They will author technical documentation including RMF assessments, after-action reports, and course-of-action analyses. Daily responsibilities also include collaborating with IT engineers to resolve data quality issues, evaluating acquisition solutions for architectural fit, and ensuring all technical recommendations align with USTRANSCOM’s enterprise strategy. Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience in systems analysis, technical assessments, and architecture evaluation within federal or enterprise environments.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
Active Secret Clearance and IAM I certification (IAWIP).
Strong understanding of FISMA, RMF, Agile methodologies (Scaled, Scrum, Kanban), and DevSecOps integration across the SDLC.
Demonstrated experience conducting technical reviews, milestone assessments (e.g., SRR, TRR, ORR), and authoring technical documentation such as risk assessments and after-action reports.
Ability to assess and recommend improvements to system performance, availability, and user experience across sustainment and deployment phases.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or hands-on experience with AWS services (S3, RDS, EC2, CloudWatch, ECR).
Familiarity with cloud tools such as Artifactory and GitLab.
Experience with Nessus/ACAS scan reports and basic Splunk query capabilities.
Agile certifications (Scaled Agile, Scrum, Kanban) and experience supporting Technical Interchange or Exchange Meetings (TIMs/TEMs).
