Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Jr Staff Accountant/Auditor for a CPA firm in Chicago, Illinois. The staff accountant's job duties will typically involve entry-level accounting tasks, but will be expected to perform some higher-level functions as you gain more experience through training. This person will be required to take on audit and staff accountant tasks, so must be comfortable with doing so. his role will be onsite Monday-Friday- the clients standard weekly paid work week is 37.5 hours or 7.5 hours per day for 5 days.
Main responsibilities include:
* Maintaining accounting records such as bank reconciliations, general ledger accounts, and subsidiary ledgers
* Recording daily transactions in an accounting system, including purchases and sales transactions
* Preparing and analyzing data for profit-and-loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, and income statements
* Ensuring that incoming and outgoing reporting follows state and federal regulations
* Assisting in conducting internal audits regularly to determine whether company policies are effective
* Assisting on financial audits and ensuring all accounting tasks and financial records comply with GAAP
* Maintaining detailed accounts payable records and ensuring timely payment of invoices
* Assisting in preparing periodic financial statements (monthly, quarterly and year-end)
* Assisting with the preparation of budget forecasts used in planning efforts by management teams
* Making recommendations for reducing cost and increasing revenue and assisting clients to improve their operations
* Being familiar with income taxes and assisting in preparing and filing

Required Skills & Experience
2+ years of experience in Accounting/Auditing
Knowledge of GAAP, auditing standards, and financial regulations
Experience preparing financial statements from scratch using raw rata
Proficiency in MS Office products including Word and Excel
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
Comfortable with onsite 5 days a week
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
CPA or progress toward CPA
Certifications such as CIA, CISA, or CFE
Auditing experience specifically within nonprofit single audits
Specific Accounting/Finance Software: QuickBooks,
AdvanceFlow, Suralink, ShareFile, Drake Software
