Process scale-up and commissioning
Lead process scale-up on site at our production facility in Batavia, Illinois, including both the retrofit of existing equipment and integration of new capital projects:
o Independently initiate, develop and implement small capital retrofits from conceptual design to engineering, installation, and commissioning.
o Work with engineering leadership and internal and external engineering partners to develop and implement larger capital retrofits and new equipment installation.
Lead commissioning and troubleshooting of new processes, including running initial batches alongside process operators.
Assess and iterate equipment design as needed to reach steady-state operation and on-spec product.
Draft and/or modify safe and robust process SOPs.
Process monitoring and quality assurance
Establish process monitoring programs to identify trends in operating conditions that may impact production output, quality, equipment mechanical integrity, or safety.
Work closely with Operations Staff, Plant Management, and QA/QC staff to ensure production quality and identify areas for process, equipment, and infrastructure improvement.
Facility-level support
Assist with hands-on troubleshooting of existing facility equipment, including sourcing/installing spare parts, working with local vendors/shops on repairs
Develop and implement facility improvement plans
General
Document and communicate results and work plan on a regular basis.
Support other projects and team members as needed and available.

6+ years of experience operating efficiently and safely in chemical/hazardous material manufacturing setting.
4+ years of experience in an operations engineering, reliability engineering, operations fixed equipment, or similar role.
B.S. in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.
Deep understanding and respect for safe operation of manufacturing equipment and scale up.
Experience and confidence in conducting formal and informal process hazard analysis.
Experience working with external SMEs across engineering disciplines, as well as OEMs, Mechanical Shops, Fabricators, and others to retrofit existing PVs and piping systems.
Knowledge and experience with relevant codes (ASME VIII, NFPA, etc) is preferred.
Working knowledge of industrial controls systems and instrumentation.
Comfort or interest in working with limited support on a blank canvas as well as taking projects from conception to operation.
