Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION
Insight Global's largest Building Automation client is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join their Commercial HVAC Installation team. The Project Manager will meet customers and team members (engineers, Project Managers, Technicians, etc.) on site a few times a week to look at projects, and can work from home the rest of the time. This person will lead mechanical construction projects, overseeing several projects at one time, in the North Suburban, Illinois area that are typically $1M or larger.

This PM will be responsible for:
- Provide input on strategy, vendor/ partners selection, scope enhancements, value engineering, risk assessment etc.
- Develops project schedules and executes according to plan.
- Manages the selection, ordering, and delivery schedule of materials.
- Acts as the primary internal leader for execution teams on assigned projects. Will interface with various teams and provide direction (internal & external) as needed to successfully execute the project.
- Analyzes financial reporting systems and project schedules to proactively address potential problems.
- Reviews contract Terms and Conditions/ Negotiates, prepares and issues subcontracts.
- Generate Purchase orders/ manage costs, billings and collections.
- Attends job progress meetings as required. Ensures subcontractors understand expectations of the project and attends job progress meetings as required.
- Ensure that work performed complies with state, local and Federal legal requirements and that staff and subcontractors adhere to all safety standards.
- Oversees project construction for compliance with specifications, local codes and installation techniques.
- Coordinates with the HVAC Sales & Operations Managers, Construction Management Services and HVAC Installation Manager, Systems Team Leader, Service Operations Manager and / or Branch Mechanical Project Team Leader for allocation of resources needed to meet project objectives.

Required Skills & Experience

MUST HAVES:
- Bachelor's degree in construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture OR an associate's degree with some relevant experience.
- 2+ years of project management experience (in controls, mechanical, construction or related field).
- Strong communication with customers, vendors and internal staff (such as engineer, technicians, procurement, etc.).
- Strong computer skills in MS Office (excel, word, power point, project), Adobe Writer, Visio and basic Windows environment.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

PLUSSES:
- 5+ years of direct project management experience in the Building Construction Industry preferred.
- Management experience with projects related to Mechanical Retrofits, HVAC controls, BAS management, Fire management, and Security management systems is desired.
