Insight Global is looking for a talented and experienced staff platform software engineer to join our client's team. As a staff platform software engineer, you will be part of the Platform Engineering Security Automation team, which partners with Grainger engineering teams to provide security focused, low friction, and self-service solutions that empower teams to resolve risk. You will work with other engineers, architects, and leaders to design automated and self-service security solutions that follow good security practices and help create organization-wide transparency into the security posture. You will also research current and new technologies to improve the teams capabilities and mentor other engineers on the team.
Core Responsibilities:
* Architect security, resiliency and quality into SecAuto products and solutions
* Work with product and engineering managers to provide feedback on planning product roadmaps and backlog priorities
* Lead the team towards continuous improvement and modernization of capabilities
* Mentor engineers and provide technical feedback to help them grow and mature
* Partner with the security organization to design solutions that automate security
* Recommend sensible defaults, guide team on clean code practices, test coverages in pipeline, and observability/alerting
5+ years of Software engineering experience utilizing Java and Microservices architecture (this does not need to be their most recent experience)
1+ years of Platform / DevOps experience with a familiarity around Kubernetes (EKS)
1+ years of experience writing Python programs -- This is more than "python scripting"
Strong communication and ability to work cross functionally across multiple business and technical teams
Understanding of best practices around Security as it pertains to coding and Devops principles
