Job Description
This Business Analyst position will work within a Business Intelligence Scrum Team and bridge the gap between our business partners and technology solution providers (e.g., vendors, infrastructure team, development team, etc.) by translating their business needs into BI solutions. This position will also involve identification/development of and execution of test plans to ensure that technical solutions meet the needs of the business. This role is a 50/50 split of technical and BA responsibilities: Knowing how to prioritize or deprioritize from a business analysis perspective, but also having the testing skills and strong custom SQL query writing, ETL pipelining and Data Warehousing skills.
Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
* Deliver design documents as part of SDLC (requirement gathering and analysis, design, testing, deployment and plan support maintenance).
* Build relationships with business clients along with the Product Owner and acts as a liaison between the business community and technical team.
* Assist Product Owner in determining value and priority of competing projects across multiple business functions to better create roadmaps and timelines.
* Analyze change requests to determine feasibility in relation to existing business requirements and processes.
* Interface with developers and vendors to understand whether we can meet business and technical requirements.
* Anticipate the needs of the business and align solutions to strategic initiatives.
* Identify missing requirements based on experience and business goals.
* Ensure transition and documentation for ongoing system support.
* Work with business partners to develop acceptance criteria / test cases in order to develop comprehensive test plan and perform needed application testing.
* Maintain all documentation, including business and technical application requirements, report requirements, and support documentation.
* Document data requirements, source systems involved, and perform data profiling to assist in determining project feasibility.
* Other projects or duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related.
* 3+ years BA experience (gathering requirements from stakeholders and translating into technical/functional requirements)
* Strong understanding of Business Intelligence / Data Warehousing concepts with knowledge of ETL and Reporting tools.
* Strong data reporting/validation experience
* Agile/Scrum environment experience
* Looking at the data and being analytical (does the data make sense? What is the business value of the data?)
* Data warehousing experience
* Experience creating user test stories
* Experience managing product/project backlog
* Ability to create custom (at times, complex) SQL queries to extract data from the warehouse, and validate the data
* Experience validating data solutions within reporting and dashboards (don't need to develop the reports, but there are times the report development team is busy, this BA will be able to make changes on the reports -- this client uses PowerBI)
* Moderate data profiling skills.
* Strong at developing test cases
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations.
* Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
* Ability to build collaborative working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders (Work with C-level and understand the need; once the full requirements are created they work with the team to derive the project deliverables)
* Worked closely on deliverables with both the Scrum team and development teams
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
* Experience in the Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing space with tools like Azure, ADF, Snowflake, and Power BI.
* Project management skills.
* Knowledge of multiple development methodologies, preferably Agile.
* Ability to bridge communications on complex needs and requirements between technical and business-oriented audiences.
* Demonstrated ability to organize, facilitate, and recap meetings with good attention to detail
