Job Description
We are seeking a Data Manager and Applications Specialist with 5 to 8 years of experience to provide technical support on a variety of projects and programs, including support for federal, state, and local government contracts, as well as commercial clients. This position will be based out of our Chicago, IL office. The position requires a mid-level Microsoft Access developer that also has experience and strong working knowledge of of SQL Server, including development, T-SQL, stored procedures, functions. The applicant would ideally have Microsoft Access development (including VBA), SSRS, and PowerBI experience. Responsible for:
* The performance of any/all functions involved in the development and/or maintenance of new or existing applications.
* Application design, tools and techniques; ability to utilize these to convert business requirements and logical models into a technical application design.
* Ability to test, write, design, debug, troubleshoot, document, and maintain source code for applications.
* Design and code (using VBA) effective graphic user interface with Access Forms and Reports.
The position will involve working directly with clients to establish and document requirements and develop applications and customized solutions. The position will frequently involve reviewing existing practices for data collection and management, identifying targets for improvement, and using advanced data management tools to automate repetitive processes and improve data quality and visualization products. The position will also involve modifying existing systems based on changing technologies and client needs. Responsibilities may also include training presentations, preparation of standard operating procedures, and other consulting activities.
Required Skills & Experience
* BA or BS in IT, GIS, Engineering, or related field
* 5+ years of experience with database design, database administration, GIS and MS Office applications:
o SQL Server, including development, T-SQL, stored procedures and functions
o Microsoft Access development including VBA, SSRS, and PowerBI
o Software development experience (Java, C#,, asp.net)
o Data analysis/task automation (Python, ArcPy, R, VBA)
o Office 365 cloud-based environments and applications (focus on collaborative tools and workflow automation)
* Excellent communication, client interaction skills, manage a heavy workflow, and mentor others
