Job Description
A client of Insight Global is seeking a Senior Manager / Director of Software Engineering to provide technical and organizational leadership across a growing software development organization focused on Warehouse Execution Systems (WES) and Warehouse Control Systems (WCS). This individual will be responsible for guiding multiple development teams, establishing engineering best practices, and helping build the next generation of technical leaders within the organization.
This role is ideal for a seasoned engineering leader who can effectively lead through architects, development managers, and technical leads while providing strategic direction across a portfolio of software initiatives. The individual will play a critical role in scaling engineering operations, developing organizational structure, and ensuring teams are positioned for long-term success. While not expected to serve as the primary architect, this leader must possess a strong architectural background and be capable of providing technical guidance and oversight throughout the software development lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will have experience building and leading software organizations, managing multiple teams simultaneously, and driving large-scale software initiatives within warehouse automation, supply chain, or logistics environments. This person should be passionate about developing talent, mentoring future leaders, and creating an engineering culture focused on accountability, innovation, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership and direction across multiple software development teams
• Mentor architects, development leads, and senior engineers into future leadership positions
• Establish engineering standards, best practices, and organizational processes
• Provide architectural guidance and technical oversight throughout the software development lifecycle
• Lead through managers, architects, and technical leads to drive alignment and execution across teams
• Support resource planning, organizational design, and team scaling initiatives
• Oversee multiple software products and programs across a large software portfolio
• Partner with executive leadership to align technical strategy with business objectives
• Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development
• Help teams think strategically about long-term architecture, scalability, and product delivery
Compensation:
$90/hr to $95/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience
• 8+ years of experience in Software Engineering leadership roles
• Experience leading managers, architects, technical leads, and software development teams
• Proven success building and scaling engineering organizations
• Strong software architecture background and understanding of modern software development practices
• Direct experience with Warehouse Execution Systems (WES) and Warehouse Control Systems (WCS)
• Experience managing multiple software projects, programs, or product teams simultaneously
• Experience mentoring and developing future technical and people leaders
• Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
• Ability to provide executive-level communication and strategic technical leadership
Experience making resource allocation, prioritization, and organizational planning decisions
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience within warehouse automation, supply chain, logistics, or distribution environments
• Experience with organizations that develop custom warehouse software solutions
• Background working for competitors or adjacent companies within the warehouse automation industry
• Experience overseeing portfolios consisting of 10-15+ software products or initiatives
• Track record of creating high-performing engineering organizations and leadership pipelines
• Experience supporting Agile software development teams at scale
Strong understanding of operational software systems and warehouse workflows
