Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a Power Systems Technician in Covington, GA. This role is responsible for the installation, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical protection relays, controls, and switchgear supporting medium-voltage (MV) power generation, distribution, and substation systems. The position involves commissioning new protection and control equipment, diagnosing and resolving issues within existing systems, and performing testing and maintenance on low- and medium-voltage breakers, switchgear, and CT/PT circuits. The individual will partner closely with engineering and operations teams to support new equipment startups, assist in developing as-built protection and control schematics, and ensure reliable performance across power generation fleets, compression stations, and operating sites. Additional responsibilities include documenting testing procedures and results, as well as providing technical support to remote operations centers as needed.

Required Skills & Experience
-1–2 years hands-on with relay/power equipment, built on a 5–10 year foundation in electronics & instrumentation
Coming from O&G operators with INE background (instrumentation and electronics) backgrounds
Experience in Oil & Gas industry
3+ years of experience with SEL devices ( Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories)
Field experience of troubleshooting electrical protection relay logic, control wiring etc.
Significant experience with Medium Voltage switchgear and distribution systems
Field experience of troubleshooting electrical protection relay logic, control wiring
Experience with PLCs, VFDs, and relay's
Experience with generator controllers (CAT EMCP, DEIF, Deep Sea, DI.ANE, etc.)
Experience with industrial PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Rockwell, etc.)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience with P&C (Protection and Control)
Experience with SEL RTACs and/or SEL PowerMax
Experience with Power Management Systems
Experience with the integration of industrial SCADA system
