Job Description

Position Overview
The Lead ESS Technician is responsible for overseeing and executing all Electronic Security Systems (ESS) maintenance activities at Fort Benning. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring system performance, compliance with military standards, and effective coordination across teams and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Execution & Maintenance
Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of ESS systems, including:
CCTV / video surveillance
Access control systems
Intercoms and intrusion detection systems
Pull, route, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling systems
Install conduit, junction boxes, panels, and related infrastructure
Diagnose and troubleshoot system failures; repair or replace faulty components
Configure and program systems, including:
IP addressing
Alarm panels
User access codes
System Oversight & Documentation
Conduct ESS site surveys and generate detailed reporting deliverables, including:
Site survey reports
Equipment lists (with manufacturer and part numbers)
Redline drawings and system updates
Develop and produce:
RFIs (Requests for Information)
ECPs (Engineering Change Proposals)
Maintain accurate project documentation such as:
Weekly and monthly progress reports
Safety and incident reports
Project schedules
Leadership & Coordination
Provide direction and oversight to technicians, subcontractors, and team members
Act as a technical point of contact for troubleshooting and escalations
Coordinate with stakeholders, customers, and project teams to ensure successful system performance
Train end users on system functionality and provide ongoing support as needed
Compliance & Standards
Ensure all work aligns with:
US Army Corps of Engineers specifications
National Electrical Code (NEC)
Local and federal regulations
Follow all OSHA safety standards and maintain a safe, compliant work environment

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of experience in electronic security systems or low-voltage electrical work
Hands-on experience with:
ESS installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting
CCTV, access control, alarms, and related systems
Strong knowledge of:
Electronics theory and low-voltage wiring
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation
OSHA 30
