Job Description

The controls engineer will support modernization projects of existing controls systems and design of new controls systems for power generation plants. 80% of their day-to-day will be centered around back-office engineering and design tasks, and the remaining 20% will be on-site factory acceptance testing and assisting personnel with installation and commissioning. Daily responsibilities include:
• Utilizing AutoCAD Electrical to create loop drawings and design control cabinets
• Develop I/O list and conduct I/O channel allocation
• Equipment selection and specification
• Conducting head load calculations
• Support assembly center with cabinet manufacturing
• Develop construction work packages
o How to install
o How to interface with existing cabinets
o Field wiring for cabinets
• Participating in design review meetings with customers and project team
• Assisting field team with site install

Required Skills & Experience

• Engineering degree (preferably in electrical or computer engineering – either associates or bachelor’s degrees are acceptable)
o 3-6 years of relevant controls experience
• Knowledge of DCS (distributed control system), PLC hardware, and I/O list (input/output)
• Knowledge of digital and analog circuit design
• Strong desire and willingness to learn

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Knowledge of EPLAN software
• Knowledge of Siemens S7 hardware platform or Siemens T3000 DCS
