Job Description

Our client is looking for a Network Engineer in Chennai, India. This will be an ONSITE position - 5x a week working rotational shifts:

• Install, configure, and support LAN/WAN network equipment (Cisco routers; Catalyst/Meraki switches; Nexus switches).
• Develop, implement, and monitor policies for the use of network resources.
• Evaluate and recommend security improvements, system upgrades, patches, and new network solutions.
• Monitor network health and performance; troubleshoot issues to restore service quickly.
• Plan and execute changes/releases to minimize user impact and ensure compatibility.
• Create and maintain technical documentation (network device configurations, standards, and runbooks).
• Troubleshoot and support SD-WAN solutions (VeloCloud and/or Versa).
• Troubleshoot Cisco ISE and Cisco DNA Center (DNAC) solutions.
• Provide basic operational support for Cisco ACI.
• Provide operational support for Nexus 7000/9000 platforms.
• Provide technical oversight for a multi-site enterprise WAN (planning, implementation/expansion, maintenance, and troubleshooting).
• Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations and cabling layouts.
• Design, deploy, and administer wireless infrastructure (Cisco WLC 2500/4500/5500/9000 series).
• Manage Cisco Meraki access points and related wireless operations.
• Recommend and coordinate upgrades, patches, and hardware/software refreshes.
• Research and propose improvements to network administration processes and tooling.
• Analyze network security; implement fixes to address vulnerabilities and compliance gaps.
• Document incidents, track resolutions, and provide clear status updates and reports to senior team members.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to escalate and resolve complex network problems.
• Assist with implementing approved network changes and updates, following change-management processes.
• Participate in a 24x7 operations model, including rotational shifts (including nights) and on-call/weekend support as needed.

Compensation:
$8/hr to $12/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience

Location: CHENNAI
ON SITE: 5x a week
Shift: Rotational - biweekly

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 7–10 years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise networks (NOC/operations experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN protocols and technologies (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, STP/RSTP).
- Hands-on SD-WAN experience (VeloCloud and/or Versa).
- Exposure to FortiGate firewalls, Zscaler proxy, and F5 load balancers.
- Experience with Cisco Meraki and end-to-end administration of Cisco wireless solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize effectively and thrive in a fast-paced operations environment.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Vendor and stakeholder coordination skills, including working with ISPs.
- Experience opening and managing Cisco TAC cases and working with support engineers through resolution.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills; able to escalate clearly and drive issues to closure.
- Experience working with ISPs to troubleshoot ILL/Internet/MPLS connectivity issues.
