Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Door Technician to support a large, mission-critical airport environment operating 24/7 at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport. This role is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of commercial door systems and architectural hardware that support safe, efficient passenger and staff movement. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with high-cycle commercial doors, automatic operators, and panic hardware, along with a solid understanding of life-safety, egress, and ADA requirements. This position plays a critical role in maintaining door uptime, safety compliance, and uninterrupted airport operations.
Day-To-Day:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on commercial door systems across terminals, concourses, tunnels, and support spaces
- Inspect, repair, and replace: Hinges, frames, closers, panic hardware, thresholds, sweeps, and weather stripping
- Adjust and maintain automatic door operators and push-button devices
- Align and shim doors to ensure safe, compliant closing and latching
- Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical issues related to door operators (non-security systems)
- Respond to reactive maintenance calls impacting passenger flow or operations
- Ensure doors meet life-safety, egress, and ADA compliance standards
- Coordinate with: DOA / Access Control teams, MC Dean when issues involve card readers or secured areas (no access control work performed directly)
- Accurately document work orders, parts used, and corrective actions in Hexagon CMMS
- Support a zero-incident safety culture in a 24/7 mission-critical environment

Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of commercial door and architectural hardware experience in a high-traffic environment
- Hands-on experience with: Automatic doors and push-button activation devices, Panic hardware/push bars (Von Duprin, Detex, etc.), Door closers and hydraulic operators, Continuous and heavy-duty hinges, Interior and exterior commercial doors
- Experience inspecting, repairing, adjusting, and aligning doors to ensure proper closing and latching
- Working knowledge of life-safety and egress requirements (NFPA 101)
- Understanding of ADA door hardware compliance
- Experience performing minor electrical troubleshooting related to door operators and push-button devices (non-security systems only)
- Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to read: Basic wiring diagrams and Manufacturer installation instructions
- Ability to diagnose root causes of door failures in high-cycle, high-traffic environments
- Experience using a CMMS platform for work order documentation (Hexagon preferred)
- Ability to pass: Airport background screening and Fingerprinting and badging process
- Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in active passenger environments
- Safety-first mindset with professional, customer-facing communication skills
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Prior experience working in an airport environment
- Experience supporting: Hospitals, universities, transportation hubs, or large commercial campuses
- Familiarity with: Plane train doors (hydraulic components) and coordinating with access control/security teams
- Existing airport badge (major plus)
- Strong resume stability (minimal job hopping)
