Job Description

We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to own the technical direction and execution for a suite of enterprise Java applications that support core business operations. In the first 1–3 months, you will drive stabilization efforts—leading bug remediation, release hardening, and migration support—while setting priorities, coordinating with stakeholders, and improving reliability and performance. From there, you will lead a modernization pivot, guiding the team’s approach to evolving legacy components into a more scalable, maintainable platform, including establishing service/API standards and engineering best practices. You’ll partner cross‑functionally to translate requirements into technical solutions, ensure secure and efficient operation in Linux-based environments, and support database performance across relational systems. This role is highly hands‑on and requires strong leadership: mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, defining standards, and unblocking delivery using Agile/DevOps practices.

We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. We are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer that believes everyone matters. Qualified candidates will receive consideration for employment regardless of their race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, marital status, national origin, ancestry, genetic factors, age, disability, protected veteran status, military or uniformed service member status, or any other status or characteristic protected by applicable laws, regulations, and ordinances. If you need assistance and/or a reasonable accommodation due to a disability during the application or recruiting process, please send a request to HR@insightglobal.com.To learn more about how we collect, keep, and process your private information, please review Insight Global's Workforce Privacy Policy: https://insightglobal.com/workforce-privacy-policy/.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of professional software development experience
• Bachelor's Degree in a technical field (Computer Science/Information Systems, or similar). Equivalent technical training or work experience is also acceptable.
• Strong Java experience, including Java 8 and enterprise frameworks (Spring Boot, JSP/Servlets, Struts or similar)
• Experience building and supporting web applications and APIs (REST and/or SOAP, JSON integrations)
• Solid understanding of core web technologies: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Experience working with relational databases (MariaDB, SQL Server, or similar)
• Experience supporting applications in Linux-based environments
• Proven technical leadership experience (mentoring developers, code reviews, guiding design decisions)
• Ability to prioritize work, manage shifting priorities, and lead through ambiguity

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience with application servers such as Tomcat, GlassFish, or Apache HTTP Server
• Experience modernizing or stabilizing legacy systems
• Familiarity with Agile and DevOps development practices
• Experience with Azure DevOps and/or cloud platforms
• Prior exposure to performance tuning, migrations, or large enterprise systems
Customer‑facing or support‑adjacent engineering experience
