The Echo-Vascular Sonographer functions in a dual-role position as both Echo Technologist and Vascular
Sonographer. As such, must conform to the job roles and responsibilities of that both provide:
The Echo-Vascular Sonographer functions under the direction of the System Manager or Chief
Technologist and is responsible for performing all cardiac imaging; which includes, if performed at your
designated facility, adult, pediatric, trans esophageal and stress echocardiograms. As well as perform all
vascular imaging including: 2D scans, duplex imaging, Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) with and without
exercise, and doppler studies. Perform measurements and calculations according to laboratory protocol,
provides written or an oral summary of preliminary findings to the interpreting Physician, is responsible for
the safety and well-being of all patients in the department, must possess the ability to communicate
effectively with the patient(s) and health care team, must be flexible with work hours to meet department
needs. Must be dependable, accountable and cooperative. Have the knowledge and ability to properly and
safely obtain a quality diagnostic study.
The Echo-Vascular Sonographer may also be asked to inject/administer Ultrasound Image Enhancing
Agents as well as saline bubble studies. Perform other work-related duties as assigned. Must be available
to take call, work weekends and Holidays on a rotating basis.

Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
One-year experience in echocardiography or vascular sonography.
Vascular Certification: ARDMS(RVT) or ARRT-VS, or CCI (RVS)
~and~
Echo certification: ARDMS (RDCS-AE) or CCI (RCS)
Accredited Cardiovascular Technology program preferred.
