Job Description

They work on post production issues and do monitoring, alerting, initial investigations, and troubleshooting of applications. Their role will be to figure out where the problem is and work with others to help resolve the issue. Often times this means working with development teams.

This person with diagnose system defects. A general understanding of applications and business and how to do initial troubleshooting to understand what is going on. This role is not infrastructure focused. This role works with databases.

This is a technical role but has some elements of Project Management work because they have to drive problems and track them and communicate on them.

65% of this role is project management like doing investigations with full story and working with the right people and teams to get the technical information. 35% of this role is technical and includes SQL and application knowledge.

Required Skills & Experience

-Ability to understand business impact of problems and work with delivery team to resolve problems quickly

-Project Management skills (driving projects, documenting projects, following up on loose ends)

-Read log files in any system (plus if the experience is reading log files in Kibana and performing queries in elasticsearch) -- we use Kibana to do initial analysis to turn back to delivery teams to work the issue

-SQL query experience (plus if there is Joins experience)

-NoSQL understanding. Working experience is a plus (this team uses Cassandra but may move to Mongo DB). Using Cassandra for initial investigations for impact and initial troubleshooting

-MicroServices -- know how this works

-Good written and verbal communication to bridge technical and business

Foundational knowledge of how applications work from a Development standpoint

-Azure understanding, helpful to know on and off prem hybrid environments (plus if certified), our environment is on and off prem hybrid

-Initial troubleshooting experience and ability to review logs, query database or use tools (ex. FullStory) to troubleshoot, identify impact, and resolve if possible

-Agile/Scrum experience

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

-Post production support experience for example -- SRE, DevOps, Problem Management

-FullStory (we can teach this. FullStory can see what customers are clicking and doing online. The role needs to poke around in FullStory to figure out what the issues might be and then drive problems to resolution with Scrum teams)

-Scripting experience like Python or Shell. Any familiarity with automations is helpful because we would like to automate more things.

-Reviewing log files in Kibana

-Experience on the delivery side of an organization

-Experience with Kubernetes (an understanding would be fine bc it is minimally used in this group)

-Ability to recognize errors in ELK

-Kibana for the visualization layer

-Foundational knowledge about how APIs work
