Job Description
Actively looking for a Technical Writer to complete a 6-month contract, possible hire north of Atlanta, GA. This individual will be focused on capturing the process and resources to develop a processing assistant system by creating documents that developers will access from a centralized library. This primary system has reports, tools, queues, and data that allows several divisions of this insurance company to function, however there is a lack of documentation for developers and other technical teams to search. Currently the end user side has standard documents in place and now the team is focused on the backend / front end technical writing for new system enhancements, updates, new systems developed, disaster recovery, backups, and tools that are needed to support the infrastructure / data center such as Citrix and Azure cloud. The ideal candidate will have experience documenting highly technical directions for systems that developers are able to reference via a centralized library, as well as excellent skills in interviewing, information gathering, detail oriented, with exposure to C#, Java, and SQL. They also must be able to provide examples of their work. Detailed responsibilities are included below.
* Planning, writing, or updating documentation for primary systems.
* Working with system architect and developers to document system requirements, components, configurations, and processes.
* Assisting the project manager with determining the appropriate level of documentation required for systems based on complexity and user requirements.
* Working with Business Analysts to incorporate business requirements.
* Maintaining all system documentation standards.
* Executing multiple projects from concept to publication under changing conditions while coordinating input from numerous sources.
* Providing editorial, formatting, and proofreading assistance for producing internal and external documentation.
* Utilizing company templates, style guides, and standard conventions to document systems.
* Collaborating with SMEs and representatives from multiple departments.
* Performing other writing or proofreading projects as requested.
Required Skills & Experience
Two types of profiles are suitable for this role:
Technical Writer who has provided documents for developers --
* 5+ years' experience as a Technical Writer
* Able to commute to the office 1-3 days a week
* Exposure to development projects: C#, .Net, SQL, Java, Power BI (recognized code for documenting data dictionaries)
* Has partnered closely with developers and documented for them directly (this will not be for end users)
* Passion for technology and desire to understand how a system or application works
* Strong interviewing / information gathering
* Able to provide samples
Developer with interest in Tech Writing -
* 3+ years' experience as a C# developer
* Able to commute to the office 1-3 days a week
* Exposure to technical writing and understanding of writing principals
* Strong interviewing / information gathering
* Detailed oriented, don't mind the tedious work
* Able to provide some samples (development blog, github, or other documentation)
