Job Description

We are seeking an experienced utility construction professional to support electric utility distribution projects across a designated service territory. This position serves as the key connection between engineering design teams and field construction personnel, helping ensure projects are built according to design intent while identifying and resolving issues in the field.

The ideal candidate combines utility construction knowledge with strong communication skills and can effectively collaborate with engineers, contractors, inspectors, and utility stakeholders.
Act as the primary field liaison between utility design teams and construction contractors.
Support construction activities to ensure compliance with approved engineering drawings, standards, and specifications.
Participate in pre-construction meetings, progress meetings, and field reviews.
Identify constructability concerns, field conflicts, and installation issues and coordinate solutions with project teams.
Interpret utility construction drawings, design packages, material specifications, and project documentation.
Perform field visits to track progress, document conditions, and provide project updates.
Assist with field validation, staking, and construction support activities.
Evaluate field conditions and recommend practical solutions when design modifications are required.
Coordinate with engineering teams regarding design revisions and field adjustments.
Support projects involving overhead and underground electric distribution infrastructure.
Provide technical guidance regarding utility construction methods, equipment installation, and field operations.
Assist with permitting, right-of-way coordination, and stakeholder communication activities.
Promote adherence to safety standards, approved procedures, and project requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of experience in electric utility distribution, utility construction, construction management, utility operations, or related fields.
Strong understanding of overhead and underground electric distribution systems.
Ability to read and interpret utility construction plans, engineering drawings, and project specifications.
Experience working directly with construction contractors, field crews, or utility personnel.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to identify field challenges and work with engineering teams to develop practical solutions.
Knowledge of utility materials, equipment, and construction practices.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly throughout the assigned territory.
Familiarity with utility permitting and right-of-way processes.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field.
Experience using GIS, ArcGIS, CYME, Maximo, or similar utility software platforms.
Prior experience supporting investor-owned utilities, municipal utilities, electric cooperatives, engineering firms, or utility contractors.
Exposure to utility design, staking, field inspections, or construction oversight activities.
