Job Description

The Construction Manager will manage City vertical construction and capital improvement projects through planning, consultant selection, design management, contractor selection, permitting, construction management, inspections, and warranty administration. Day to day, they will coordinate with consultants and City agencies, issue work orders, review plans/specs, monitor costs, attend project meetings, evaluate bids, conduct site visits, prepare inspection reports, review invoices/requisitions, manage change orders, inspect projects for completion/deficiencies, and maintain administrative project records.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5–10 years of construction management, building construction, vertical construction, or related project delivery experience
• Field-heavy construction background; must be comfortable being on-site daily
• Experience managing or supporting vertical construction projects, building projects, infrastructure/open space projects, permitting, inspections, contractor coordination, and construction progress monitoring.
• Ability to coordinate with consultants, contractors, city agency officials, surveyors, testing labs, and key stakeholders.
• Experience reviewing plans/specifications, invoices, change orders, field inspection reports, schedules, cost estimates, project records, and progress/status updates.
Valid driver’s license

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building Construction, Construction Management, or closely related field.
• Experience with 40–50 year recertification projects.
• State of Florida Professional Engineer, State of Florida Registered Architect, Miami-Dade/State of Florida General Contractor, General Building, or Engineering Contractor license.
• Experience working on municipal, public-sector, parks, buildings, or open-space capital projects.
Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, or rotating shifts if needed.
