Job Description

The Patient Access Specialist is responsible for delivering a professional and high-quality patient experience while ensuring accurate and complete patient registration. This role serves as a key liaison between patients, clinical teams, and administrative departments to facilitate access to services within the Cancer Institute.

Required Skills & Experience

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association – Healthcare Providers)
• Billing and coding certification preferred
• Experience using EMR (EPIC) systems, insurance verification, eligibility, and electronic billing
• Working knowledge of health insurance plans and interpretation of benefits
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Prior experience in a customer service or patient-facing healthcare role
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Professional, service-oriented, flexible, and dependable
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to follow directions accurately
