Job Description
A company in the Melbourne area is looking for a Corporate Accountant III to support a growing finance team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role is responsible for performing complex accounting functions, supporting financial reporting, and providing analysis to drive business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Perform month-end close activities, including preparing and reviewing journal entries in compliance with GAAP
Conduct variance analysis by comparing actual results to forecasts and budgets
Support forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning (including 3-year plans)
Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts
Provide audit support for internal and external audits, including financial and compliance audits
Analyze intercompany transactions and ensure proper accounting
Review expense reports, invoices, and payment requests for accuracy and proper coding
Assist in preparation of annual financial reporting packages and supporting schedules
Partner with cross-functional teams and leadership to deliver financial insights
Contribute to process improvements and documentation of accounting procedures

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
4+ years of professional accounting experience
Experience in government contracting accounting preferred
Strong knowledge of GAAP, FAR, and CAS
Advanced proficiency in Excel and working knowledge of accounting systems
Experience with Costpoint
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines
