Job Description

Lead the Software Engineering team responsible for the UREG platform, a core registration,
authentication, and user data system supporting CBS Digital sites. UREG enables secure
identity management, subscriptions, payments, marketing integrations, and personalization at
scale.
● Platform Ownership
Own the UREG platform's end-to-end delivery, stability, and evolution, requiring
collaboration with various partner teams (Product, Legal, Security, etc.) while balancing
feature development, operations, and technical debt.
● Privacy, Security & Compliance
Manage PII and ensure compliance with Legal, Privacy, and Infosec requirements by
reviewing features, integrating with the Privacy Portal for data requests (Know/Delete),
and supporting legal holds/regulatory changes.
● Integrations & Data Platforms
Lead secure integrations with key external and internal systems (SFMC, Recurly,
Cybersource, BigQuery, Paramount+) and ensure accurate data synchronization.
● Core Platform Capabilities
Maintain and enhance all core UREG capabilities, including user identity (registration,
authentication, social login), subscriptions/payments (Recurly, entitlements), data
tracking (SFMC, BigQuery), preference management, acceptance tracking, and
API/Customer Support tools.
● Reliability & Operations
Ensure high availability and operational reliability, lead incident response and
communication, monitor systems (New Relic) to identify security threats/anomalies, and
drive root-cause resolution for errors and data inconsistencies.
● Configuration & Reporting
Manage UREG configurations, ensure platform-wide reporting requirements are met,
drive new data ingestion into BigQuery, and provide ad hoc reporting as needed.
● Testing & Data Quality
Ensure data quality (accuracy, completeness, consistency), validate new features from
an end-user perspective, perform in-app payment testing (Apple/Google), and resolve
payment/subscription issues to maintain user access.
● Tentpole Event Readiness
Prepare for tentpole events by forecasting demand, executing load testing, resolving
performance bottlenecks, coordinating production scaling, partnering with
external/internal teams, and documenting live event traffic for future planning.
● Legal & Finance Support
Respond to Legal, Finance, and Tax audit requests, support abandoned funds reporting,
and ensure the compliant handling of all financial and sensitive user data.
● Customer Support Enablement
Act as the escalation point for Customer Support, investigate and resolve complex user
issues, and maintain/enhance UREG Customer Support tools.
● People Leadership
Lead and manage the engineering team by coaching, mentoring, providing feedback,
conducting performance reviews, and fostering a culture of accountability, quality, and
continuous improvement.Platform Strategy & Ownership: Own the UREG platform's

Required Skills & Experience

Education and Experience
○ 10 + years of experience managing, mentoring and coaching engineering
team(s)
○ Experience with designing and implementing high traffic distributed systems,
including microservices and API-driven architectures (REST, GraphQL)
○ Experience building and operating applications in cloud environments (AWS, GCP,
OCI), including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
○ Deep understanding of distributed systems concepts, including caching (Redis,
Memcached), messaging/Pub-Sub systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and container
orchestration (Kubernetes).
○ Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases in high-scale production
environments.
○ Experience with enterprise search platforms (Elasticsearch, Solr) and edge
caching/CDN platforms (Fastly, Akamai or similar), including edge compute and KV
stores.
○ Proficiency in at least one high-level systems language (Go, Rust, or Java).
● Technology Evaluation & Communication: Experience evaluating multiple
technologies or approaches, making recommendations with pros and cons, and
presenting tradeoffs and options to broader engineering or cross-functional teams.
● Soft Skills: Able to analyze, debug, and troubleshoot complex code problems. Passion
for sports and a dedication to creating exceptional fan experiences.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

AI/ML Experience:
○ 1+ years experience working with LLMs and/or MCP servers/technologies.
○ 1+ years experience with AI technologies and processes like vector embeddings.
○ 1+ years experience with one or more vector databases (e.g., TurboPuffer,
Mongo Atlas).
● Cloud Focus: 5+ years experience working with Cloud technologies (AWS is strongly
preferred).
● Collaboration: Proven experience in cross-team collaboration for requirements,
implementation, and testing.
● Certifications: Cloud certifications (GCP, AWS, OCI
