Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Construction Superintendent for a public sector construction project in Northeast Florida. This individual will support a fire station addition located in Amelia Island, overseeing daily onsite construction activities while coordinating closely with the Fire Chief to ensure station operations continue safely and efficiently during construction. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of superintendent experience, strong interior and exterior carpentry skills, and a background in new construction. This is a 6 month contract with potential extensions for a hands on superintendent who excels in live environment construction settings.
Day-to-Day:
• Oversee daily onsite construction activities for a fire station addition
• Coordinate closely with the Fire Chief to align daily construction activities with station operations
• Ensure construction and active fire station operations run smoothly at the same time
• Manage subcontractors, trades, and vendors onsite
• Review drawings and ensure work is completed per plans and specifications
• Monitor progress, sequencing, and site logistics
• Assist with scheduling, material coordination, and progress updates
• Maintain jobsite safety, compliance, and cleanliness
• Communicate daily with stakeholders regarding progress, issues, and changes

Required Skills & Experience
• 5 to 7+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent
• Strong interior and exterior carpentry experience
• Background in new construction
• Experience working with:
o Concrete
o Masonry
o Structural steel
o Metal trusses
o Interior build out
o Site development
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
• Hands on experience coordinating subcontractors and trades
• Comfortable working onsite at an active, occupied facility
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience working on municipal, public safety, or government facilities
• Previous work on fire stations or similar operational buildings
• Some Project Manager–type responsibilities (scheduling, coordination, reporting)
• Familiarity with Florida building codes and inspections
• OSHA or construction safety certifications
