Job Description

Role Overview:
Our client in the West Palm Beach area is seeking a Transportation Engineer to support the planning, review, and delivery of transportation and roadway projects across the city. This role plays a key part in managing development‑related traffic reviews, responding to public concerns, and helping implement traffic calming and mobility improvements in a fast‑growing urban environment.

This position sits within the Transportation/Traffic Engineering group and works closely with City leadership, consultants, developers, and the public.

Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Review development and site plan submittals for traffic and transportation impacts
- Respond to public inquiries, complaints, and concerns related to traffic and mobility
- Develop and review plans that incorporate traffic calming, pedestrian, bike, and multimodal solutions
- Conduct or review traffic studies, data analysis, and transportation evaluations
- Prepare staff reports, recommendations, and presentations for City Commission and public meetings
- Coordinate with internal departments, developers, consultants, and external agencies
- Support transportation planning, capital projects, and grant‑funded initiatives
- Participate in stakeholder meetings and community engagement efforts

Ideal PR: $50-58/hr depending on background and experience

Required Skills & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification in the State of Florida (required)
- 5+ years of experience in transportation planning and/or transportation engineering
- Experience reviewing or developing traffic studies and transportation plans
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public‑facing presentations
- Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain a Florida license prior to start)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Prior experience working in a municipal or public‑sector environment
- Experience with development plan review and permitting
- Familiarity with traffic calming, active transportation, and urban mobility projects
- Comfort working with elected officials, city commissions, and community stakeholders
