Job Description
A client of Insight Global is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their Decision Science technology team. This person will be responsible for leading and delivering advanced analytic data solutions leveraging next‑generation technologies, including GenAI. They will work closely with business and technology leadership to understand scope, requirements, and enterprise‑level data sources in order to design and build scalable data pipelines that directly support decision‑making tools and scientific models.
Daily responsibilities include planning, estimating, technical design, hands‑on development, testing, and production rollout of data engineering solutions. The Senior Data Engineer will collaborate with Decision Science Product teams, Data Scientists, and client stakeholders to deliver high‑impact projects across multiple business units. Additional duties include conducting design reviews, providing mentorship, ensuring DevOps best practices, interface with cross‑functional partners, and maintaining production‑quality code in a fast‑paced environment

Required Skills & Experience
• 7+ years in data engineering across multi‑environment Dev/QA/Prod and DevOps deployment workflows
• Ability to translate scope and high‑level requirements into technical data engineering tasks
• Strong experience defining solutions for complex data engineering problems supporting analytics
• Experience with GenAI tools, models, and concepts
• Understanding of Knowledge Graphs, Data Mesh, and modern data‑sharing platforms
• 3+ years designing & building relational databases (Snowflake or PostgreSQL preferred)
• 3+ years leading and deploying code via GitLab/GitHub
• 2+ years using job scheduling tools (Apache Airflow, Amazon MWAA, GitLab Runners, or UC4)
• SQL & Python expertise with multiple years of ELT/ETL development experience
Experience designing data structures and schemas
• Experience with container technologies (Docker or Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of cloud architecture (AWS preferred)
• Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical partners
• Experience collaborating across multiple project teams in a fast‑paced environment
• Experience estimating LOE and participating in project/sprint planning
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Master’s degree (CS, Engineering, Math, or related field)
• Experience working on advanced analytics or optimization teams
• Experience in research/development or building data solutions leveraging GenAI
• Prior work supporting decision science or advanced modeling teams
