The Senior Network Security Engineer plays a critical leadership role within the Security Operations team in the Telecommunications and Network Services Division. This position is responsible for implementing, operations, troubleshooting and maintaining advanced network security solutions that ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the colleges enterprise and residential networks. Operating under minimal supervision, this engineer collaborates with a broad range of technical teams and campus stakeholders to protect sensitive data and support a secure, scalable, and highly available network environment. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, analytical rigor, and a proactive mindset to mitigate risk, lead incident response, and align security initiatives with regulatory compliance frameworks such as NIST 800-171/800-53, CMMC, and HIPAA.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Networking, or a related field.
Industry certifications such as CISSP, GIAC (GSEC, GCIA, GCIH), CEH, CCNP Security or equivalent.
5+ years of progressive experience in enterprise network security roles.
Strong understanding of Layer 2/3 networking, routing protocols, firewall policies, and VPN technologies.
experience with Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA/Firepower, or similar enterprise-grade firewalls.
Familiarity with cloud security controls in Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform is a plus
Familiarity with implementing or managing Zero Trust frameworks to enhance network segmentation and access control.
Hands-on experience using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar for automating network and security configurations.
Experience deploying or managing EDR tools such as CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, or Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
Demonstrated passion for security through involvement in CTFs, bug bounty programs, or open-source security projects.
