Insight Global is seeking a welder to join one of our large shipbuilding clients in Jacksonville, FL. This position is responsible for providing welding skills for repairs to ships and boats in the US Navy, US Coast Guard, MSC and commercial vessels. Tis is 100% on-site work in Jacksonville, FL. This position will require accessing the ship with the capability to lift up to 50 lbs. Qualified candidates will need to work at all heights (high and low), operate in confined spaces and in inclement weather conditions.
Day to Day:
Operate & troubleshoot welding machines
Understand, interpret, and apply Naval Sea Systems (NAVSEA) MIL-STD-1689 requirements.
Work with system drawings and blueprints, interpret weld symbols
Welding metal components together to fabricate and repair equipment- gas welding, brazing or arc welding
Assemble steel or aluminum ships through welding or tack welding using electric, gas, arc, and other welding equipment
Determines proper equipment to be used; inspects, tests, and repairs work pieces accordingly

Highschool Diploma
Must be able to pass a MIL STD 248D certification test prior to being considered for hire
Knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items
Welding Certificates from a technical school
