Job Description
DAY TO DAY: Our client is looking for a Sr NOC Analyst to join their team! The Senior Data Center/NOC Analyst coordinates and oversees daily data center operations, including hardware and software applications and peripherals. Working in conjunction with the Data Center Supervisor, the Senior Data Center Analyst closely monitors and resolves daily processes and verifies proper outcomes. The Senior Data Center Analyst can be called upon to make critical decisions when supervision is not present. Additionally, the Senior Data Center Analyst supports data center facilities by identifying malfunctions, recording and checking on systems, performing scheduled maintenance and taking corrective actions when required. Provides systems recommendations to the Data Center Supervisor, trains junior staff, and performs other duties as assigned.
Some Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
* Monitor access to area per protocols. Issues security badges to allow access to restricted areas after
* Validate proper change or incident records have been submitted.
* Monitor activity around the facility through the use of security cameras. Retrieves archived video images in the event of a security investigation.
* Perform weekly no load, and full load generator tests and records various meter readings prior and during to ensure optimal performance.
* Continuously monitor the Data Center environment using the appropriate monitoring software and adjusts thresholds as needed, and maintains physical appearance of Data Center.
* Respond and clear alarms as needed as they occur on UPS, HVAC, generator, fire suppression or Information Systems. Notifies contracted vendors for repair of specific systems to ensure site integrity.
* Operates HAM radio during drills, if licensed.
* Maintains video wall monitoring by assuring applications reflect current data.
* Identifies hardware and software malfunctions. Contacts department personnel and/or vendor services to correct hardware, operating system software or application systems program malfunctions, as required.
* Works in conjunction with technical support personnel in changing/swapping various hardware or network cabling, locates and power cycles servers to ensure production system availability.
* Checks environment for proper setup, operates PC workstations in accordance with procedures, stages equipment, mounts tapes, and loads/labels various media for each scheduled shift.
* Anticipates and resolves complex situations by applying judgment, demonstrated knowledge, and skills generally acquired through experience.
* Comfortable working in a mission critical environment and must be willing and able to learn electrical systems (UPS, Generator), mechanical system (A/C), and Fire alarm and Suppression systems (Fike, Cheeta).
* Maintains records of system outages and hardware breakdowns, and production jobs that do not conclude successfully,
Proactively monitor key business applications and services using system management tools and escalates as needed.
