Job Description
The Principal, Database Administrator manages the back-end database environments utilized by the clients business applications. This individual is an expert in utilizing the available database management and design tools to design, build, manage and optimize database structures, content, access, and performance. This position leads architectural discussions for both Shipboard and Shoreside applications and is expected to architect, design and configure the database environments used by the applications to be highly available and quickly recoverable in the event of a software or hardware failure. This individual reports progress to his manager, and to any application project manager for whom they or their team are performing tasks. This individual has assigned responsibilities throughout project lifecycles and may be assigned to execute tasks on projects and lead technical support efforts concurrently. The Principal, Database Administrator is responsible for the quality and timeliness of their team's deliverables and must be able to plan, prioritize, and execute all tasks on time.
Required Skills & Experience
* For SQL Server DBA: [A] Extensive experience and knowledge of SQL Server DB technology and associated 3rd party tools. [B] Expert working knowledge of the windows operating system, windows batch automation, client and network communication protocols, data storage concepts, windows server, and cloud-based DB architecture: specifically, Azure and AWS. * For Oracle DBA: [A] Experience and knowledge of Oracle DB technology and associated 3rd party tools. [B] Expert working knowledge of the windows/Unix/Linux operating systems, batch and shell scripting automation, client and network communication protocols, data storage concepts, and windows/Unix/Linux/cloud server architecture.
