Job Description

A client of Insight Global's is looking for a Satellite Planner who will be responsible for providing technical and operational support and subject matter expertise for various satellite communication (SATCOM) networks, including FDMA, TDMA, UHF TACSAT, INMARSAT BGAN, GBS, HPW, and other commercial and military tactical systems. This position involves configuring networks, monitoring systems, activating remote terminals, and tracking and resolving SATCOM incidents related to baseband, intermediate frequency (IF), and RF communications. The role also includes analyzing and processing satellite access requests, developing network diagrams, providing status reports, and ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.



Key Responsibilities:

1. Analyze Satellite Access Requests (SARs), Gateway Access Requests (GARs), Satellite Access Authorizations (SAAs), Gateway Access Authorizations (GAAs), Telecommunication Service Requests (TSRs), Telecommunication Service Orders (TSOs), and Transmission Plans to determine SATCOM configuration requirements and alternatives.

2. Utilize Government-provided tools and applications to develop network diagrams and cut sheets based on analysis results.

3. Provide daily status reports on equipment, network availability, and network utilization using Government-provided tools and applications, and enter outage and restoral information into the Government's trouble management system.

4. Provide technical and operational support for FDMA, TDMA, UHF TACSAT, INMARSAT BGAN, GBS, HPW, and other commercial and military tactical satellite communications systems.

5. Plan and implement hybrid networks (terrestrial, satellite, and fiber) and interface satellite ground station equipment with terrestrial systems, such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) gateways and other telephony systems.

6. Demonstrate subject matter expertise in commercial and tactical military satellite RF bands (e.g., L, C, X, Ku, and Ka) along with knowledge of satellite technology architectures, standards, systems, hardware, and software.

7. Create, analyze, and process SARs, GARs, SAAs, GAAs, TSRs, and TSOs, ensuring compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) Communications Security (COMSEC) and familiarity with DoD trouble ticketing systems (e.g., Remedy).

Experience Requirements:

- Minimum of 4 years of experience in planning and operating FDMA, TDMA, UHF TACSAT, INMARSAT BGAN, GBS, HPW, and other commercial and military tactical satellite communications systems.

- Expert knowledge of satellite ground station equipment and its interface with terrestrial systems, including VoIP gateways and telephony systems.

- Ability to plan and implement hybrid networks and demonstrate subject matter expertise in commercial and tactical military satellite RF bands.

- Experience working with DoD communications security and trouble ticketing systems.
