Job Description
A client of Insight Global's is looking for a Senior Software Developer to join their team of four. This is a remote position but, the ideal candidate is located within driving distance of the Orlando area. This person will be the subject matter expert responsible for servicing the backend and frontend development of the in-house custom Content Management System that supports a large internal group. This person needs to have a deep understanding of Java and JavaScript technologies because the CMS is based in Java and running on Tomcat with a Microsoft SQL Server database. This role requires creating Rich Internet Applications (RIA) using JavaScript and JSON data stores, running within an Electron client environment. Proficiency within SQL Server Management Studio, data structures, and JSON data stores is critical. In the back-end this person will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining the in-house CMS, optimizing the application for maximum speed and scalability, ensuring security, and integrating with databases and data storage solutions with a focus on Microsoft SQL Server and JSON data stores. In the Front-End, this person will be responsible for developing and enhancing RIA applications using JavaScript, tailoring user experience in the Electron client environment with NODE.JS, ensuring brand consistency and high-quality graphic standards, and testing and refining for usability. It is critical that this person has longevity in their previous roles and experience completing a net new development on a project from start to finish. This is an extremely hands-on coding role for true programmers who have the ability to be one-person shop.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5-6 years of experience as a proven Senior Software Developer
- Needs to have taken a project or application through a full lifecycle start to finish
This must be a 2+ year engagement on their resume
- Expertise in Java development, specifically, tomcat environment
- Strong experience in JavaScript and modern frameworks
Must be able to write code from scratch without templates or frameworks
- Experience with Content Management System (CMS) development and management. Must have the ability to designing, develop, and maintain the in-house CMS using Java on a Tomcat server environment
- Proficient with Microsoft SQL server and SQL Server Management Studio
- Experience as a full-stack developer. This position is 70% backend heavy but this person still needs to be proficient in back-end, middle-ware, and front-end
- Ability to develop and enhance rich internet applications using Javascript
Must have front-end experience in Javascript writing code from scratch without template or frameworks
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience with data structures and JSON data stores
Experience with Jira, Node.JS, and Docmosis Tornado
