About the PM role:
The primary focus of the position is to lead ship hotel refurbishment projects for the New Builds & Refurbishments department. The Project Manager is responsible for the development of large-scale projects for the CCL fleet within specifications, budgets and schedules in international shipyards and dry docks involving multicultural engineers and contractors. The PM will monitor all refurbishment activities for the CCL fleet. Projects will vary in scope, from design specification requests to large-scale dry dock refurbishments. At the dry docks, the ship is taken out of the water and the team takes advantage of the ship being out of service to do disruptive work throughout the ship. This could be anything from replacing rugs, beds, and tv's to backing up appliances, replacing satellites, and running cables. Typical seasons for drydock work is during the winter, early spring, and late fall. When the PM is assigned to be at a drydock, they will be required to sleep on the ship throughout the duration of the refurbishments. They must be comfortable working 7 days a week for up to 10 hours a day during these drydock periods. They will be paid overtime and any additional charges will be compensated during their travels. During their off time / when they are not at the drydock sites, they will work with tower leads to create designs, order equipment, track equipment, etc. This work will be done remotely.
Key responsibilities:
* Managing scope, schedule, budget, and create plans and then report on progress of those plans.
* Work closely with stakeholders and project sponsors to understand the concept, objectives, and goals for the requested project.
* Develop the scope of work required to fully satisfy the stakeholders' desired project outcome.
* Develop specifications for refurbishment areas in compliance with the criteria established by the sponsors.
* Prepare bid documents and design/technical specifications.
* Review drawings and specifications presented by internal and external architects and designers, considering functionality, operational needs, and budget.
* Ensure all selected specifications comply with the safety and environmental regulations established by the company and appropriate regulatory agency.
* Draft and present business plans, budget analysis and project timelines to stakeholders in various departments. Assure appropriate and accurate information flow both within and outside the organization.
* Maintain close contact with contractors and vendors to resolve any possible challenges in a proactive manner.
* Serve as a liaison between stakeholders, project managers, architects, designers, electrical and safety managers, and support staff to assure no aspect of the project is overlooked and that project progress is congruent with the original concept.
* Perform onsite inspections at dry docks to ensure quality adherence/assurance of work completed and timely production.
* Ensure projects are accomplished following applicable regulatory requirements and that all documents are updated and archived.
Required Skills & Experience
Role: Dry Dock Project Manager
On-going contract to possible FTE
Interviews: 2 rounds max
Start date: 2 weeks from offer.
Travel: International. Must have passport.
Must be willing to be on drydock site for anywhere between 2 weeks to 2 months at a time.
When onsite at the drydocks, workdays can be as long as 10 hours, but they will receive pay for OT.
All travel and meals are paid for.
REMOTE, WFH when they are not at the drydock sites.
Must-Haves:
* A minimum of 5 years of related experience is required.
* Ability to travel internationally and domestically for extended periods of time.
* Understanding of project management, planning, and scheduling ideally within the vessel refurbishment area
* Strong communication, problem solving, and ability to manage multiple projects at once.
* Computer skills, including MS Office, MS Project, and CAD.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
* Shipboard / Cruise experience (BIG plus)
* Drydock experience.
