Job Description

Responsible for directing the day-to-day activities relating to the disbursement and administration of the scholarship programs in the State of Florida and other states.

Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely recording of payments in accordance with governing statute and company policies and procedures along with evaluation, analysis, and reporting of payable activity.

Manage completion of month-end closing procedures related to program accounting functions to include general ledger reconciliations, journal entries and research and determine the most effective means of handling accounting transactions.

Responsible for development, implementation, and continuous improvement of procedures and policies to ensure adherence to company guidelines and GAAP. Evaluate internal payment processes to ensure practices are aligned with overall goals of the organization.

Responsible for managing and leading program accounting staff including mentoring, development, training and annual performance reviews.

Direct collaboration with other departments to resolve questions/concerns with scholarship program disbursements.

Work with Financial Data and Systems to ensure data integrity of systems; to include actively researching and resolving any discrepancies or any data errors in the payment system and AP.

Collaboration with the Compliance department on issues of potential fraud, as well as implementation of internal policies. Collaboration with Provider Relations on scholarship disbursement workflows to ensure prompt payment to parents/providers while also ensuring proper documentation is provided for audit purposes.

Assist finance leadership and CFO with annual external audit and Auditor General Audit with State of Florida. Also assist finance leadership with Form 990 Tax Return.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelors in Accounting or related field

5-7 years of end to end accounting functions

1-2 years of supervisory experience

Experience with ERP systems (they use Epicor)

Strong Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs, XLookups, Sumif Functions)

Quick learner in a fast-paced environment

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with Epicor

Experience at a non-profit
