Job Description

We are seeking a Cisco Network Engineer for a full-time position at an ongoing contract in Washington DC near Farragut West metro station. RCG is a growing federal contracting company looking for strongly qualified people to help support our clients.

Primary Function: Configures, tests, implements and maintains network infrastructure including power, racks and network equipment. Maintains integrity of network infrastructure. Provide support at various remote locations. Harden network infrastructure to DoD STIG requirements.

Please note: Due to the secure nature of this government agency, all candidates must be U.S. citizens and hold a current, active Secret clearance.

The successful candidate will receive a contingent offer based on the outcome of a government background check. This will take several weeks, and the candidate cannot begin actual employment until the background check is successfully completed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides technical support by evaluating and resolving network problems. Evaluates network performance using hardware and software diagnostic tools. Update and maintain documentation of client's networks. Maintain production environment with maximum uptime with little customer impact. Install new hardware from new in box to production in rack. Install network cabling as required. Work general O&M activities on the customer's network during maintenance hours that derive from Remedy ticketing system

Required Skills & Experience

· Minimum 5 years' experience in the following:

§ Cisco IOS Based Switches to include Cisco Catalyst 6500, 4500, 3750 & 3560 series. Cisco IOS Based Routers to include Cisco 3900& 2900

§ IOS, BGP, EIGRP, QOS, ACLs, Port Security, MAB, Netflow, and Network Diagraming with Visio

· Network Management Tools:

§ Cisco ACS Server, Netflow Analyzer; Wireshark for packet analysis

· Network Diagraming with Visio

· Must be familiar with Cisco Nexus switches and Cisco 802.1X authentication

· Patching and cabling

· Able to work independently as well as with a team

· Security+ and/or CISSP certification

· Network certification

· Secret Clearance or Higher

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

· Cisco ASA Firewall experience (various models).

· Familiarity with SolarWinds and Web Helpdesk is a plus.

· Experience with TACLANE encryptors.

· CCNA, CCIE, or CCNP.

· Manage networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation, defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.

· Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, collaborating with network architects on network optimization.

· Secures network system by establishing and enforcing policies, defining and monitoring access.

· Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations.

· Work network implementation projects as assigned.

· Understanding of networks and troubleshooting communication issues.

· Must have the ability to manage demands with frequent changes.

· Ability to speak, read and write in the English language (fluent).
