Cybersecurity Engineer II

Overview: Insight Global is seeking a hands-on Cybersecurity Engineer II to support the build and maturation of a hospital’s security program.

This is a true engineering role, not just a security operations position. The role will split time between day-to-day security operations and hands-on engineering, requiring someone who can both respond to incidents and directly implement security solutions within a hybrid environment that includes on-prem infrastructure, Azure, and Office 365.

This individual must be comfortable operating in a lean environment with a high level of ownership, working across infrastructure, cloud, and security tools to strengthen the overall security posture.

Responsibilities:
• Own daily security operations including alert monitoring, triage, and incident response
• Perform vulnerability scanning and directly remediate identified risks
• Configure, deploy, and optimize security tools including EDR/XDR, SIEM, and firewalls
• Support HIPAA and NIST compliance efforts
• Contribute to security improvements and modernization initiatives (Azure, O365)
• Partner with vendors and contractors while maintaining technical ownership
• Build dashboards, reporting, and basic automation where possible

Must-Haves:
• 4–7 years of hands-on cybersecurity engineering experience
• Experience working in a hybrid environment (on-prem + Azure + O365)
• Strong hands-on experience configuring:
○ CrowdStrike and/or Microsoft Defender XDR
○ Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM configuration and tuning)
○ Rapid7 (scanning AND remediation)
○ Cisco firewalls / network security
• Strong understanding of infrastructure including:
○ Active Directory (GPOs, identity security)
○ Windows servers and endpoint hardening
○ VMware or virtualized environments
• Experience implementing security controls, not just monitoring tools
• Healthcare or regulated environment experience (HIPAA preferred)
