Job Description

Day to Day:
A top employer in the government facilities / mission‑critical infrastructure industry is looking for a Master HVAC Technician to join their team. This role is responsible for maintaining reliable, compliant, and secure HVAC/R systems that support sensitive federal operations. The technician will play a critical role in ensuring proper climate control, equipment uptime, and overall facility readiness within a secure, high‑visibility environment.

Some responsibilities of the Master HVAC Technician will include but are not limited to:
• Troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining HVAC/R systems including air handlers, split systems, rooftop units, chillers, and CRAC units
• Performing preventive maintenance in accordance with OEM guidelines and contract requirements
• Diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical issues using gauges, meters, and multimeters
• Recovering, evacuating, and recharging refrigerant systems in compliance with EPA Section 608
• Monitoring and responding to alarms through BAS/DDC systems
• Documenting service activities, parts usage, and work orders in a CMMS
• Supporting HVAC equipment installation, commissioning, and control upgrades
• Collaborating with onsite staff to resolve system performance issues
• Adhering to OSHA, NEC, EPA, and mechanical code standards
• Performing limited general facility maintenance tasks as needed (non‑HVAC related)

Required Skills & Experience

• At least 5 years of recent experience maintaining/repairing commercial (sizeable/facility scale equipment) or industrial HVAC/R systems
• Active TS/SCI clearance and government suitability screening
• Universal EPA 608 cert
Master HVAC license in DC, Virginia, or Maryland (Master preferred)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience servicing Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) units preferred.
• HVAC trade certification or technical school completion preferred.
