Job Description

A Continuity Planner is needed to perform on-site consulting services in Washington, DC. This position supports the development, management, and refinement of continuity of operations plans for a large federal organization. The role requires familiarity with key concepts and strategies supporting continuity of operations, business continuity, test, training and exercises, incident management, and disaster recovery.
The Continuity Planner must have working knowledge of these programs and experience applying them within a federal organization, specifically in a continuity and/or emergency management planning support role.
This position is onsite five days per week in the DC metro area and requires an active Top Secret security clearance.

Required Skills & Experience

Required Experience / Skills

Five or more years of Continuity of Operations (COOP) and/or Business Continuity experience focused on continuity plan development and maintenance
Experience developing and conducting Business Process Analysis (BPA) and Business Impact Analysis (BIA)
Knowledge of industry business continuity planning and federal continuity guidance and policies, including ISO 22301
Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining continuity of operations plans (COOP), including quality assurance and basic graphical design
Understanding of business continuity planning concepts across organizational lines of business and the ability to coordinate requirements with stakeholders
Experience working with senior and mid-level executives, including providing guidance, consultation, training, and facilitating working group sessions
Experience organizing and facilitating meetings with senior and mid-level leadership
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to develop reports under time constraints
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint) for documentation, briefings, and leadership reports
Demonstrated experience developing and presenting high-quality deliverables for executive-level audiences
Strong technical writing skills
Ability to deploy for emergency situations
Active Top Secret security clearance required

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience working within a legislative or federal government organization
Experience developing both discussion-based and operations-based exercises
Training development and facilitation experience
Continuity planning or related certifications (ABCP, CBCP, DRCE, etc.) from recognized organizations (e.g., DRII, FEMA)
Strong work ethic with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Experience with ArcGIS and/or WebEOC
Experience with Microsoft Access, SQL, or similar database tools
Bachelor’s degree preferred (emergency management, crisis management, or a related field)
