Job Description
Responsibilities
* Deploy and maintain our client's HQ layer 2 network
* Support our client's global enterprise network
* Proactively identify, analyze, troubleshoot and diagnose issues on customer's network, with the goal of continuous improvement of service delivery
* Document issues and resolution for future reference in the NetOps Technical Knowledge Base (TKB)
Required Skills & Experience
* Excellent hands-on experience with the following networking infrastructure:
o Command Line (CLI) with enterprise class Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
o Internet and Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) understanding
o Knowledge of network management systems such as Network Access Control (NAC) and monitoring tools
* Able to work as part of a team with shared responsibilities
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate updates with Team Lead and project managers
* Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
* Strong interpersonal skills when interacting with the federal customer
* An aptitude for learning new skills and procedures and applying them in a production environment
* Position may require working some nights and/or weekends for troubleshooting and maintenance windows
* Position will require on-site presence at the Herbert C. Hoover Building (HCHB)
* Additionally, this individual should have some prior exposure to the setup and maintenance of VTP (Virtual Trunking Protocol), Vlan configurations, IPv4 sub-netting, IPv6 addressing, RSTP (Rapid Spanning-Tree Protocol), ACL (Access Control Lists), and have a baseline understanding of EIGRP (Enhanced Interior Gateway Protocol), BGP (Border Gateway Protocol), and static routing.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
* A creative problem solver with experience in identifying layer 3 routing and layer 2 switching issues in a Cisco environment
* Advanced troubleshooting skills, including the ability to capture and analyze packet level data (i.e. Wireshark PCAPS), and must be familiar with network monitoring tools such as OpManager, Configuration Manager (NCM) and Netflow
* Detail-oriented technical skills and strong analytical skills (including log analysis)
* Flexibility and the ability to think creatively while meeting/using industry best practices
* An avid learner that is willing to accept guidance and instruction from senior administrators in order to strengthen the support team and grow as an engineer
