The Software Asset Management (SAM) Specialist / Licensing Administrator is responsible for assisting customers with understanding their license allocations and how they relate to their installed software, referring to best practice, and ensuring that the customer receives timely responses and assistance.
This role is a challenging opportunity in support of a rollout of the software asset management program from the beginning. Not only will this candidate be supporting the customer long term as a SAM expert but will have an opportunity to help build out the entire Software Assessment Management platform from the ground up. We are looking for candidates that are detail oriented, but who also understand how to expeditiously move a customer through to the scoped outcome. This position involves direct customer interaction, data reconciliation and consulting with multiple teams.
* Serve as the SAM subject matter expert (SME)
* Monitor processing of software renewals to ensure nothing is late.
* Support asset management program, processes, and daily operations.
* Update and seek customer approval on all Software Asset Management SOPs, Job Aids, etc.
* Support software asset audit and remediation activities, software true-ups, renewals, etc.
* Ensure that new license entitlements are appropriately updated in the asset management system and license metrics are accurately reflected against product use rights and contractual guidelines
* Support processes associated with software whitelists and blacklists, including handling of non-standard software requests, identification, and removal of unauthorized software, etc.
* Perform data analysis in support of license reclamation and reallocation efforts to optimize costs and reduce software overspend
* Process software requests from employees through your organization's approval process.
* Configure license types and license counter calculations (PVUS, CALS, cloud, subscription, perpetual, user, concurrent, etc.)
Required Skills & Experience
* 5-7 years' experience in Asset Management (software, hardware, or cloud)
* 3 + years' experience in Software Asset Management
* 2 + years' experience with any ITSM platform specifically with Asset Management.
* Experience supporting deployment and sustainment of a SAM environment.
* A demonstrated understanding of software compliance.
* Experience with licensing for large software vendors, such as IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, Adobe, etc.
* Demonstrated ability to work across teams to achieve results.
* Strong ability to brief and communicate with customers at every level up to executives.
* Candidate must have one of these certifications
* IT Asset Management certifications such as Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM)
* Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
* Experience with ServiceNow ITSM platform, specifically with Asset Management (AMDB) & Configuration Management Databases (AMDB & CMDB) is a plus
* Experience with ServiceNow SAM Pro, especially with deployment of SAM Pro is a plus.
* Experience with directing, supporting, and responding to software audits.
* * ITIL v3 or ITIL 4 Foundation certification is a plus
