Job Description

A global electronics and semi-conductor manufacturing company is seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Governance Consultant to lead the strategy, structure, and execution of their enterprise Data Governance program. This individual will act as a strategic advisor who can partner with business leaders to identify outcomes and problems using modern problem‑identification and design-thinking approaches, translate them into data‑driven objectives, and convert them into actionable technical initiatives. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in governance frameworks, business engagement, facilitation expertise, and data management technologies. This is an immediate need that can sit remotely anywhere in the US (will work EST hours) and is a 6-12 month contract with the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Data Governance Strategy & Framework Development
· Develop and operationalize the enterprise Data Governance strategy and operating model.
· Define governance roles, stewardship responsibilities, workflows, policies, and standards.
· Evolve policies around data quality, metadata, privacy, access, and lifecycle management.

2. Business Engagement & Outcome Identification
· Work closely with business teams to identify strategic business outcomes, value opportunities, and pain points.
· Use modern problem-identification and analysis methods such as:
o Design Thinking
o Jobs‑to‑Be‑Done (JTBD)
o Root Cause Analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone)
o Value Stream Mapping
o Problem Framing Workshops
o Hypothesis‑Driven Problem Solving
· Facilitate structured workshops to help business teams articulate challenges and convert them into measurable data outcomes.

3. Business Education & Enablement
· Train and coach business stakeholders on modern frameworks and structured ways of defining problems, outcomes, and data needs.
· Develop playbooks, templates, and facilitation methods to improve organizational capability in identifying and articulating data-driven opportunities.
· Build a culture of informed decision-making and outcome-first thinking across business units.

4. Translate Business Needs into Technical Goals
· Convert business outcomes and identified problems into actionable technical governance requirements.
· Define data quality rules, metadata requirements, lineage capture needs, glossary terms, and critical data elements (CDEs).
· Collaborate with Data Engineering, Architecture, and Analytics teams to ensure governance elements are embedded into data ecosystem designs.
5. Data Quality & Stewardship Operationalization
· Oversee stewardship processes including glossary management, catalog curation, CDE definition, and issue‑management workflows.
· Ensure data ownership and accountability models are implemented across lines of business.

Required Skills & Experience

· 8–12 years of Overall Experience with strong exposure to Data Governance Project/s
· Deep experience facilitating problem-identification workshops and outcome-definition sessions.
· Strong understanding of data management domains (metadata, quality, lineage, privacy, MDM).
· Ability to convert business needs into measurable data and technical requirements.
Excellent communication and facilitation skills with senior stakeholders.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

· Experience applying Design Thinking or structured problem-solving methodologies.
· Consulting background working across multi-business, large-scale environments.
DAMA CDMP or equivalent certification.
