Insight Global's client is seeking an experienced RN Nurse Manager for a residential care facility supporting adults with mental health and chronic medical needs. This role is ideal for a hands-on nurse leader who thrives in a close-knit environment, values long-term resident relationships, and is comfortable balancing clinical oversight with day-to-day care. The RN Nurse Manager will oversee medication administration, supervise nursing staff, coordinate care with external providers, and ensure regulatory compliance while fostering a compassionate, family-like culture where resident happiness is the top priority.
Day-to-Day:
Oversee and coordinate all direct resident care (44 residents; capacity up to 50)
Ensure residents are clinically prepared and medically optimized
Supervise LPN and CNAs/attendants (10 total staff; 8 FT, 2 PT)
Complete annual performance reviews and support staff development
Oversees resident care plans and ensures updates are completed per regulations
Maintain integrity of the medication room, inventory, and compliance
Oversee daily medication administration accuracy (high‑volume med pass)
Communicate with physicians, hospitals, pharmacies, and conservators
Transcribe and implement doctor’s orders
Provide nursing care including wound care, diabetic testing, nebulizers, vaccines
Assess residents returning from hospitalizations
Coordinate referrals (PT, home care, specialists)
Lead monthly in‑services and oversee staff certifications
Prepare for and support DPH inspections
Respond to incidents (falls, injuries, behavioral health concerns)
Support admissions assessments and discharge planning
Be present across shifts to support day, evening, and night staff handoffs

Required Skills & Experience
Active Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license
5+ years RN experience with 2+ years in a management or leadership role
Active CPR certification
Associate's Degree in Nursing
Experience working with elderly and/or mental health populations
Experience with AcuFlo or other eMAR systems
Comfort supervising and supporting LPNs and CNAs/attendants
Experience with physician orders, assessments, and care plan oversight
Ability to be hands-on in a small-staff, family-style environment
Willingness to be on call 24/7 (primarily phone support; rare onsite weekends)
Strong clinical judgment; calm and effective in emergencies
High level of compassion, respect, and accountability for resident outcomes
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience overseeing medication administration by attendants
Strong background in medical/surgical nursing or charge nurse experience
Residential care home or assisted living experience
Experience with DPH inspections and survey readiness
Mental health exposure (bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, major depressive disorder)
Public health nursing background
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)
Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook skills
