Job Description
An employer is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to work in the new product development group at a fast paced R&D organization. This will be a hybrid role based in Southbury, CT.
This role is critical in driving the design, development, and validation of cutting-edge mechanical systems and components for next-generation products. The ideal candidate will bring strong engineering fundamentals, creative problem-solving skills, and a passion for innovation.
This person will debrief with the design and sales teams after meeting with a client, start working on initial concept generation, work in SolidWorks to create parts and individual components, do either machining or printing, then send back out for 2nd round of designing or testing.

Required Skills & Experience
3-5+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience (flexible)
CAD design work with SolidWorks generating manufacturing drawings and maintaining revision control
Design experience of machined, injection molded, sheet metal parts
Experience with simulation programs such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar
Experience authoring technical specifications and following stage-gate methodologies
Hands-on, shop & testing experience
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
CFD (computational fluid dynamics) experience with SimScale preferred
Experience working in an R&D organization
Experience creating seals and o-rings
Experience in prototype creation using shop equipment such as mills, lathes
Knowledgeable in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
