Job Description

An employer is looking for a SQL DBA responsible for designing, developing, implementing, maintaining, upgrading, and automating solutions for managing and optimizing databases within an organization. This role combines expertise in SQL Server Technologies, programming, and automation to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of database systems. In this role the SQL DBA will collaborate with software development teams to integrate database automation processes into the software development cycle.
The SQL DBA will keep up to date with the latest industry trends and advancement in database automation technologies. You will also provide 24/7 support on SQL Server Database Systems in an on call rotation & support off hour and weekend deployments and tasks when necessary.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of experience as a SQL Server Database Engineer or similar role, with a focus on database concepts, principles, backup, recovery, deployments, best practices, and automation
CTE (common table expression) is a must have
4+ years experience with Azure Cloud
4+ years experience with HADR technologies like Always On, Replication, and/or Clustering
3+ years of proficiency in scripting languages like Powershell, Python, etc for automation tasks
3+ years of experience with database automation frameworks and tools like Octopus, Teamcity, Anisble, Jenkins
2+ years of experience with source code management tools like GitHub and GitLab
2+ years of experience with CICD tools and methodology

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with SSIS, SSRS, SSAS
Thorough understanding of database architecture, replication, and high availability concepts
Proficiency in SQL and experience with other database technologies such as PostgreSQL, DB2 LUW, etc
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues
Effective communication skills and the ability to work effectively though collaboration with cross-functional teams
Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality database automation solutions
