Job Description

This role is responsible for evaluating and ensuring the performance, stability, and compliance of wireless devices and networks across Wi-Fi, 5G NR, and LTE technologies. The Wireless Field Test Engineer will support RAN performance validation and optimization efforts through nationwide field testing, data collection, network analysis, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration to improve overall network quality and customer experience.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience performing large-scale wireless data collection, drive testing, post-processing analysis, and root cause investigations across both cellular and Wi-Fi environments.

Job Responsibilities:
• Design test plans, execute field testing activities, and troubleshoot wireless network performance issues.
• Develop test scopes, conduct nationwide data collection efforts, analyze results, and provide detailed reporting and recommendations.
• Collect, process, and analyze large datasets from Wi-Fi, LTE, and 5G networks to identify performance issues, customer experience concerns, and optimization opportunities.
• Investigate escalations related to network quality, customer experience, coverage, latency, throughput, and device performance.
• Utilize field data to perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions to engineering and operations teams.
• Continuously monitor network KPIs using internal dashboards, OEM network management platforms, drive test data, and subscriber experience metrics.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and operations teams to troubleshoot network issues and validate network improvements.
• Evaluate wireless device performance across Android and iOS platforms, including extraction and analysis of device logs and diagnostic information.
• Support testing initiatives related to Charter's mobile device ecosystem, vendor certifications, and wireless network performance assessments.
• Create technical documentation, test reports, and executive-level findings summaries.

This position will be 50% travel to network hubs across the US. The other 50% will be hybrid 4 days a week onsite in Greenwood Village, CO. The pay rate for this position is between $61-65/hr. Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 4+ years of experience in RF engineering, wireless performance testing, or network optimization.
• Strong hands-on experience conducting field data collection for both Wi-Fi and 5G/LTE networks.
• Proficient knowledge of 5G NR, LTE, and Wi-Fi technologies.
• Thorough understanding of Android and iOS device settings, configurations, and diagnostics.
• Experience extracting and analyzing device logs from Android and iOS devices.
• Experience working with wireless data collection and post-processing tools, including: TEMS, Meritech / Meritek, Accuver XCAL/XCAP, Ekahau, QXDM
• Comprehensive knowledge of Android Debug Bridge (ADB) and related command-line tools.
• Proficient knowledge of Wi-Fi, cellular, and network traffic protocols including: DNS, DHCP, TCP/UDP/QUIC, QCI, 5QI
• Strong understanding of network quality metrics, subscriber experience, and traffic prioritization.
• Ability to process and analyze very large test datasets (tens of gigabytes per test execution).
• Experience identifying root cause issues and developing actionable remediation recommendations.
• Self-starter with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

•Background in test automation, scripting, or programming for data collection and analysis.
• Experience automating test workflows, data processing, or reporting pipelines.
• Prior experience with mobile device vendor testing, certification, or penetration testing initiatives.
• Understanding of wireless network performance benchmarking and competitive analysis.
• Experience serving as a technical lead on wireless testing or optimization projects.
