A leading aerospace and defense client is seeking a Sr. Lead Systems Engineer V to support their Space Systems Engineering team in Englewood, CO. This individual will lead a systems engineering team responsible for the design, integration, and verification of advanced space systems and their associated ground and launch systems. Day-to-day, this person will supervise and mentor engineers while overseeing tasking, planning, and execution of systems engineering deliverables. They will act as an IPT Lead, owning technical, cost, and schedule performance while also contributing hands-on to solve complex engineering challenges when needed. This role will drive development of key systems engineering artifacts including system architecture, requirements, CONOPS, trade studies, and mission analysis, leveraging both traditional and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches. Responsibilities also include managing Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) activities, serving as a Control Account Manager (CAM) for cost and schedule tracking, and ensuring all deliverables align with program requirements, SOWs, and CDRLs. This individual will regularly interface with customers, subcontractors, and mission partners, support design and readiness reviews, and drive continuous improvement across systems engineering processes. This is a highly visible leadership role requiring both strong technical expertise and the ability to lead teams in delivering mission-critical space programs. Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Engineering or related technical discipline
8+ years of progressive systems engineering experience (space/aerospace strongly preferred)
Experience leading or supporting systems engineering teams or IPTs
Strong background in full system lifecycle (requirements, design, integration, verification)
Experience with systems engineering artifacts: Requirements and ICDs, System architecture, CONOPS, Trade Studies and mission/system analysis
Exposure to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies
Ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate engineering workloads to meet milestones
Strong communication skills with ability to interface with customers, government stakeholders and Cross-functional engineering teams
Experience operating in a DoD or government contracting environment
Active Top Secret clearance

TS/SCI clearance
Prior space systems or satellite / ground systems experience
Experience as an IPT Lead or Control Account Manager (CAM)
Familiarity with tools: Cameo / MagicDraw, DOORS, Atlassian (Jira, Confluence)
Experience supporting design & readiness reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.)
Background in cost/schedule management and Integrated Master Scheduling (IMS)
Experience contributing to R&D or new business efforts
