Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a remote Electrical Substation Engineer to support in executing a large, multi-year compliance and modernization effort that supports facility/line ratings program for transmission lines, substations, and transformer assets. Duties include: Providing feedback, clarifications, technical direction to project teams to ensure proper facility ratings models and processes are completed timely to meet compliance requirements, create process documentation around the ratings process and suggest process improvements, be a subject matter advisor as it relates to facility ratings for all of the Transmission Business Unit including providing education or presentations as needed, ensuring that ratings are properly communicated to impacted parties both inside and outside the company, supporting creation and updating of the Facility Rating Methodology, supporting ongoing efforts to stay current with new regulations such as Ambient Adjusted Ratings and updating & maintaining the Bulk Electric System (BES) lists.

Required Skills & Experience

10+ years of experience
Background in Electrical, Software, Substation, Transmission and/or EMS Engineering
Proficient in both substation and transmission line ratings including equipment ratings
Experience with transmission line and substation drawings and projects including ability to identify project scope and find equipment attributes from drawings
Experience with calculation and use of Transmission equipment and facility ratings including use in EMS and at ISO / RTO
Ability to calculate ratings for various transmission equipment using our FRM and applicable standards
Ability to calculate facility boundaries and facility ratings

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Familiarity with FERC/NERC and other regulations
Familiarity with IEEE standards for calculating ratings of electrical equipment
Knowledge / understanding of FAC008
