Job Description

An oil and gas client is looking to add a Sr. Data Engineer to their team. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining scalable data infrastructure, supporting analytics, reporting, and cloud migration initiatives. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SQL Server performance tuning, Microsoft Fabric ecosystem, CI/CD practices, and domain knowledge in oil and gas operations.

You will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
-Identify and address performance bottlenecks in SQL Server environments, focusing on memory and I/O issues.
-Refactor poorly written or designed code for optimal performance.
-Utilize RedGate monitoring tools and pre-built procedures for query tuning.
-Champion the use of Visual Studio and SSDT for state-based deployments.
-Implement design patterns and indexing strategies using open-source tools.
-Work with Microsoft Fabric components including Data Factory, Synapse, and Databricks.
-Assess and support CI/CD pipeline setup using GitSuite and Azure DevOps.
-Plan and execute cloud migration strategies, considering tools like Databricks and Snowflake.
-Support automation of deployments into pipelines

This is a permanent role that requires being onsite four days a week in Downtown Denver.

Compensation:

$130,000 to $150,000 per year annual salary.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience

-7-10 years of Data Engineer experience
-Advanced SQL service experience including SSDT for state-based deployments
-Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, etc.)
-Python and/or PowerShell scripting
-Experience mentoring and advising junior data engineers
-Experience working in the oil and gas industry

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

-Experience migrating to Azure cloud
-Experience with Terraform
