Job Description

A Research institute specializing in Aviation is looking for a full scope programmer/machinist for a 4 month contract to join their team of 4 machinists in Boulder, CO. The CNC Machinist/Programmer will play a vital role in the research and development of prototype manufactured parts for use in the modification of aircraft. They will use precision machinery, advanced machining techniques, and a variety of materials to program, setup, operate, and QA parts. Responsibilities include working directly with Engineers to interpret CAD drawings, sketches, and documentation to determine the most effective approach to turn the idea into a reality. They will then Program using GibbsCAM, and design both Jigs/Fixtures as well as the end part. Following the programming, they will be responsible for full setup of Mills/Lathes and Quality checks of parts using micrometers, calipers, and CMM. Candidates will need to understand the full scope of Programming through Quality, and be comfortable working in a prototype, quality over quantity environment.

While this is set out to be a 4 month contract, this is a great way to get your foot in the door with an institute that occasionally offers full time employment to great machinists. This opportunity is a great way to build your understanding of prototype machining as a respected member of a team, and work directly with Engineers at an advisory capacity.
