Job Description

Job Summary:

A client based in Richland, WA is looking for a Remote Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their team. This person will be primarily responsible for initiating and developing mechanical equipment designs for remote applications, as well as lead a small team of engineers. They will perform as a design engineer to on facilities and plant modifications from inception to close out. This includes: all aspects of mission, program, risk, design, systems support, budget development, supervision of offsite consultants and construction contractors, field engineering, startup/testing, regulatory and code compliance, and final acceptance to meet user requirements.



Job duties:

· Generates and has expertise with drawings, arrangement, assembly, and data sheets.

· Assists in preparation and approval of design documents/plant modifications.

· Checks to ensure accuracy of design media in accordance with company policies.

· Understands, complies and is responsible for working to environmental health and safety policies and procedures.

· Performs independent research, reviews, studies, and analyses in support of plant changes and design modifications.

· Supports installation and testing of site systems and components.

· Participates in the preparation of cost estimates for engineering services to internal and external clients and coordinates work assignments to meet project-established schedules and budgets.

Interface with customers and clients and clearly explain concepts/current projects.

Required Skills & Experience

Must-haves:

· 15+ years' experience in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

· Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar.

o Professional Engineering (PE) license; can be from any state.

· Design experience in one of the following for nuclear applications: remote handling systems, gloveboxes, radioactive packaging, waste stabilization/encapsulation systems.

o Possesses creativity for new designs, as well as has an understanding of nuclear containment applications.

Leadership/management experience, ability to guide design effort.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Plusses:

· Has worked with design tools such as Solidworks, AutoCAD, or Ansys.

· Patent from creation at a previous role.

Background in Nuclear/DOE/Robotics/NASA/Space-Related engineering roles.
