Boeing Commercial Airplanes BCA is seeking Experienced Structural Analysis Engineers in Seal Beach CA.
The position requires flexibility in work hours but generally the work shifts adhere to 7 days on Fri - Thu and 7 days off Fri - Thu schedule in a two-week cycle. Typical work days start at 10am and end at 10pm for day shift Engineers and start at 10pm and end at 10am for night shift Engineers.
The position is within the Boeing Operations Center Rapid Dispatch Team in the Customer Support organization supporting Boeing's in-service commercial aircraft fleet operating 24 hours a day 365 days of the year.
The position requires periodic work schedule changes across the various shifts to meet operational and business needs. Selected applicants must be willing to commit to working any work schedule required to balance staffing requirements on each shift.
As part of the Operations Center Rapid Dispatch Team the Engineer:
Performs detailed structural analysis static strength durability/fatigue and damage tolerance to determine structural integrity margins of safety using classical techniques and Boeing tools. This analysis supports responses to customer inquiries failure investigation regulatory agency coordination and to show compliance with regulatory requirements.
Guides structural repair design and repair plan configuration development.
Performs trade studies to optimize structure and meet program requirements.
Develops deploys and supports in-house and commercial application software to enable efficient performance of engineering tasks.
Researches and prepares data to support definition of structural repair and/or design requirements.
Addresses maintenance and repair issues which specifically threaten or prevent the safe and profitable operation of in-service Boeing aircraft.
Applies broad knowledge of Boeing design and/or repair and/or engineering principles.
Assesses and resolves product/process issues through the product life cycle.
Develops and implements product/process improvements.
Designs interim and final engineering solutions.
Uses innovative approaches and unique applications to address complex nonconforming conditions and detect deviations.
Analyzes reported problems for potential safety issues.
Represents the engineering community in the build through post production environment.
Leads activities for on-site disabled product repair teams.
Leads the design of interim structural repairs and conducts static strength analysis.
Develops and lead non-destructive test procedures tools and standards.
Develops and implement technical training curriculum for internal or external customers.
Develops major/minor structural repairs on all Boeing and Douglas series models.
Performs review of the requests and determines the best avenue for resolution.
Develops solutions utilizing sound repair logic experience and previous data.
Corresponds with Operators thru Boeing Communication System BCS e-mail telephone and Multiple Operator Messages MOM.
Communicates with customer if additional information is needed or roadblock arises.
Provides troubleshooting damage assessment and repair plan assistance via telephone.
Reviews outgoing messages for quality.
Analyzes repairs and/or damage and develops substantiation of action.
Develops substantiation package for repairs and/or fly-on limits.
Participates in accident investigation support teams.
